I’m going to be honest and share that for a long time in my life, seeking therapy was something I actively resisted. I may have gone and gotten a clinical degree and worked towards my clinical license, but doing the vulnerable work of opening myself up to someone was scary. I share this to say: you are not alone. However, when I finally made that decision many years ago, to open myself up to another professional, my life changed. I want to be that person for you. The fact that you have landed on my profile is a sign you may be at that point.
I expect nothing of you except to be yourself. There is no need to put on a mask or pretend to be someone that you’re not. In my therapy room, you are accepted for exactly who you are; the good and parts of you that you wish were different. You will be embraced for exactly who you are and together, we will work together to discover what parts of your life you wish could change.
Know this: not everything is your fault. There are likely parts of your story that were outside of your control. You may have spent years trying to cope with things that have happened in your life only to discover that things have gotten worse over time or simply, not improved. I know that when I first took that leap of faith and sought therapy for myself I was amazed at how much of an impact trauma had in my life. I highly doubt your story is any different. But this is the message I want you to pick up: the things that have happened to you or are happening to you don’t have to control your life. There is another way; an option; another way to live your life. Together, I would like to help you find that door.
When it comes to therapy, I believe in a partnership. Like any partnership, this requires some give and take and it’s all built on a foundation of trust. And what do we know about trust? Trust is something that is earned, not freely given. In my practice, I plan to earn your trust through compassion, empathy and unapologetically supporting you every step of the way. You will no longer be alone in your struggles.
Together, we will work to help you accept what is out of your personal control and commit to action that improves your life. We will work together as a team, to help you become the kind of person you want to be and build the sort of life you want to live. We’ll process recent events, explore past traumas, learn new skills, and begin taking steps towards the life you desire. In doing this, we’ll clarify your values and you’ll leave each session with an action plan; something practical to take away and use to actively improve your life. If you’re ready to take that next step like I did so many years ago; reach out and contact me now. Help is waiting.
