I am a dedicated, patient-focused, board-certified PMHNP with expertise in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric treatment. I have my degree as a Doctor of Nursing Practice, along with a minor in nursing education from The University of Missouri. I excel at establishing therapeutic alliances with both colleagues and patients, and also in showing empathy while working towards team/treatment outcomes
I enjoy spending my time away from work watching my husband coach our 2 boys who play baseball and soccer. I also love leading my daughter’s Girl Scout Troop on new adventures! My hobbies include baking, taking nature walks, and frequenting theme parks with the family.
The bulk of my career was spent as a Psychiatric Nurse, working in Senior Mental Health. I also have enjoyed gaining some experience as a Pediatric nurse at the start of my nursing career. From there, I decided to pursue my Doctorate in order to be able to contribute to the demand for qualified psychiatric providers.
My personal philosophy of advanced practice nursing is that, as a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I should utilize my skills and time optimally to maximize the therapeutic affect I may have on a patient. Advanced practice nursing, to me, is about spending my day, from start to finish, making a patient's care experience excellent. This philosophy coincides with my personal goal to maintain a high level of intrinsic motivation to do more than just the minimum required of me, each and every day.
