COUNSELING Depression & Mood Disorders IN COLUMBIA, MO

It's time to stop suffering in silence. You're worthy of happiness! Our counselors are here to help.

Depression is one of the most common mental health conditions. It's also one of the most treatable. Many people suffer in silence. Or even worse, when you talk about your depression, you get get terrible advice like..."Why don't you just exercise more?" "You have so much to be grateful for." Or "Don't worry, it will pass."

If you weren't feeling bad before you reached out, this well-meaning, but awful, advice leaves you feeling inadequate and shameful along with depressed. Depression is not something you need to feel bad about. You can feel better and deserve help.

Depression is a mood disorder that can leave you feeling down, empty, hopeless, have low energy, can make you only want to sleep or not able to sleep, can leave you irritable/short tempered, make it hard to accomplish things, make you feel like you are weighed down, make you feel like your life isn’t worth living, can cause you to have aches and pains, and can make relationships hard. You don't have to have all these symptoms to have depression or to seek help. If any of these symptoms resonate with you, reach out to a Brave Therapist today! Counseling helps alleviate symptoms of depression.

At Brave, we acknowledge that there are a range of treatments that people find helpful. We support complementary treatments, evidence-based therapeutic approaches, neuromodulation, and medication. We support your goals and your right to choose which treatment methods are right for you. At your request, we connect you with additional providers to join your team. Each person's journey is different. Our therapists meet you where you are when you come to our office.

When you're experiencing depression, just reaching out for help can be overwhelming. At Brave, we do everything we can to make it easy to get started. As a small, boutique-style practice, our environment is comfortable and homelike.

Come as you are. We want you to be yourself. You don't have to put on a brave face. You don't have to pretend things are okay when you step into our office. Feel free to dress comfortably (we do), put your feet up, and have a cup of coffee while we start your journey toward feeling better.
